Barbara Morgan is an American educator and former NASA astronaut who made a significant contribution to space exploration. Born on November 28, 1951, in Fresno, California, Morgan was fascinated by space from an early age.

As a child, she watched Alan Shepard's Mercury flight on television and developed a keen interest in astronomy. Morgan pursued her studies in math and science at Stanford University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in human biology in 1973.
